Washington DC National Union Building Wedding
Dustin & Alek had their wedding ceremony at The National Union Building in Washington DC! Earlier in the day before their ceremony we stopped by The Jefferson Memorial and Meridian Hill Park for wedding day portraits. In the evening I captured their ceremony at The National Union Building followed by a performance by Mama Tits a drag queen from Seattle. The National Union Building offers multiple event space options for weddings and events in a historic building. Catering and Bar was provided by Eco Caters. Our photo booth was setup with props, 4x6 instant printing, and instant social media sharing!

Washington DC Surprise Proposal & Engagement Session at The Wharf
A recent surprise proposal captured at the waterfront of The Wharf in Washington DC! The Wharf is Washington DC's newest hotspot! It contains restaurants, bars, park area, waterfront views, mixed residential and business area and a concert venue. This is an ideal location for a surprise proposal that feature some great locations for portraits afterwards which also makes it a great engagement session location. When planning a surprise proposal or engagement session at The Wharf you can check out their events calendar to make sure there are no large events that would draw large crowds of people. By avoiding times when there are events and busy times we can make sure there is plenty of space to get photos without people in them. The Wharf has a lot of street parking around and is also assessable by Uber and Metro. The pathways along the waterfront or on the docks are some of the best spots for a proposal. Around the spring and summer time there are some great areas with flowers and plants as well as fountains. Going under the lights of the concert venue also makes for a cool shot.

We provided photo booth for The Comfort Cases Gala at The Marriott Marquis in Washington DC for their 2018 Gala and fundraising event! Photo booth is perfect for many types of events including charity events to raise awareness for the cause. For this event we included the charity logo on the prints. Fairfax Virginia Courthouse Wedding - Portraits at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park
Alex & Sebastian had a private wedding ceremony at Fairfax Courthouse in Fairfax, Virginia! I love capturing intimate courthouse weddings. elopements, and private ceremonies in Washington DC and Northern Virginia! Photography was not allowed at the time inside the court house but I still had the honor of witnessing the ceremony! Afterwards we went to Ellanor C. Lawrence Park in Chantilly, Virginia and then Downtown Washington DC and The National Mall for portraits! Georgetown is one of my favorite locations for surprise proposal and engagement photography since it offers so much between the park, waterfront area, urban area, bridges, and the Georgetown canal. National Arboretum Cherry Blossom Surprise Proposal & Engagement Session
The National Arboretum was established in 1927 by an Act of Congress. The Arboretum is administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service in Northeast Washington DC. It covers 446 acres of land with various gardens and exhibits. The highlight of the arboretum is The historic National Capitol Columns which make a cool backdrop for photos! For this surprise proposal the moment happened in front of the cherry blossom trees as they were in bloom at the end of March and early April! This is a great location if you want some cherry blossom photos but want a different location then The Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial. The Arboretum features other garden areas such as the azalea collections and The National Bonsai & Penjing Museum. Its open until 5pm most days. The Aboretum is another great location for a Washington DC surprise proposal!

Jefferson Memorial Surprise Proposal & Engagement Session
The Jefferson Memorial is always an iconic location for a surprise proposal not only during The Cherry Blossoms but year around! For this proposal I captured the moment from inside the columns with the view of The Washington Monument in the background! The sides of the memorial always work great as there are less tourist then in the center or on the steps of the memorial. We did some portraits around the backside and down in front with The Tidal Basin after the proposal and of course a ring shot! The Jefferson Memorial honors our countries third president and over looks that Tidal Basin which is surrounded by the cherry trees gifted by Japan. The cherry trees bloom once a year for a short period. The peak bloom is a very popular time for photography in the DC area!

The Inn at Little Washington is a cute scenic location and a private romantic spot for a surprise proposal with The Blue Ridge Mountains in the background. The Inn at Little Washington in Washington, Virginia about an hour and a half outside Washington DC is made up of Victorian buildings on the main street of a the town of Washington less then a mile from Route 211 and right near the border of Shenandoah National Park. The Shenandoah Valley area is beatiful at all times of year especially in spring and fall. My favorite spot for a surprise proposal on the property of the inn is the large pen field with the mountain view! After the moment the garden area behind the inn makes a great location for portraits! The Inn at Little Washington also host weddings!

The area is surrounded by restaurants and shops with the waterfront park area, canal, and cool pathways. The waterfront has a view of The Potomac and Kennedy Center! Planning a Surprise Proposal or Engagement Session at The Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC
Every spring Washington DC celebrates The National Cherry Blossom Festival. The annual festival celebrates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from the mayor of Tokyo to the city of Washington DC and honoring the friendship between The United States and Japan. Today the festival last about four weekends and attracts about 1.5 million tourist. The blossoms can be seen around The Tidal Basin, Jefferson Memorial, MLK Memorial, and many other areas. Many couples choose the Cherry Blossoms as the perfect time to plan their proposal or engagement session but there are some things to keep in mind!
Dealing with Tourist: The Cherry Blossom Festival attracts many tourist! So avoiding the busiest times will be beneficial to make sure there is space to get photos without people in them. Sunrise sessions are highly recommended as there are not many tourist out just after sunrise. The later in the day the busier it gets. Going on weekdays instead of weekends is also helpful!
Peak Bloom: many clients like to have their photos during peak bloom! Peak bloom happens when 70% or more of the cherry trees blossoms are out. The peak bloom may only last for a few days but the week before or after the bloom will still have many trees in bloom. Peak bloom can be hard to predict especially if you are coming from out of town on a planned trip. If you are flexible on dates, I am happy to be flexible in planning spur of the moment to go during peak bloom for photography sessions! Transportation: As The Cherry Blossom festival attracts thousands of tourist it is recommended to use transportation such as Uber or Metro instead of driving as parking is limited! Parking may be available if you are planning a sunrise session.
Other Locations: Aside from The Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial there are other locations around Washington DC that also have Cherry Blossoms if Memorials and large crowds are not your thing! Feel free to reach out as i'd be happy to discuss other options that may work for you!

I love to photograph holiday parties for companies at the end of the year! It's so fun to see employees having a great time after another year of hard work! I had the pleasure of capturing usgroupbooking.com's holiday party for their employees, partners, and clients, The party was held at The Hyatt Regency Fairfax in Fairfax, Virginia just outside of Washington DC. The Inn at Little Washington is a cute weekend getaway location and a romantic spot for a surprise proposal with The Blue Ridge Mountains in the background. The Inn at Little Washington in Washington, Virginia is made up of Victorian buildings on the main street of a the town of Washington less then a mile from Route 211 and right near the border of Shenandoah National Park. This was my second proposal i've photograph at this gorugous location! My favorite place to photograph here is the field with this amazing view! The gardens behind the inn make a great location for portraits afterwards! The whole are is very private and senic! I photographed the ring on one of the rustic benches!
