Oatlands is a historic plantation located near Leesburg, Virginia. Established in the early 19th century by George Carter, it originally functioned as a large wheat plantation. The estate features a Federal-style mansion, beautifully maintained formal gardens, and several preserved outbuildings that reflect its agricultural past. Today, Oatlands operates as a historic house museum and National Historic Landmark, offering tours of the mansion, gardens, and grounds. Visitors can explore the rich history of the property, including its ties to slavery, as well as enjoy seasonal events and educational programs.
